Description

This 5 hour course provides an overview of state-of-the-art technology for fall protection and current OSHA requirements specific to the climbing and construction of telecommunication, radio transmission and metrological towers. Topics covered include the principles of fall protection specific to tower climbing, the components of tower climbing fall protection systems, the limitations of tower climbing fall arrest equipment, determination of safe paths for climbing, and OSHA policies regarding fall protection and tower climbing. Course features a field exercise demonstrating tower climbing fall protection equipment and simulated tower climbs. This course is designed to train employees for designation as "authorized or designated persons" for the purpose of fall arrest equipment use.

• Recognize fall hazards and identify abatement methods for

• Define the proper use of tower climbing fall protection
   equipment and personal tower fall arrest systems
• Select proper standards for citation purposes
