Fire Protection and Life Safety: 8 hours Board Approval #: 06-OM-0203 This 8 hour course introduces the student to the recognition of potential fire hazards and emergency procedures. Topics include the chemistry of fire, types and effectiveness of extinguishing agents, means of egress, detection and alarm systems, fire brigades, fire prevention plans, and the Life Safety Code (NFPA 101). 29 CFR 1910, Subparts E and L, and referenced NFPA codes provide the basis for the course. Hands-on training is emphasized as students study and use various types of portable fire protection equipment. |
