Description
OSHA has estimated that more than 32 million workers are exposed to 650,000 hazardous chemical products in more than 3 million American workplaces. To protect these workers exposed to hazardous chemicals in all industrial sectors, the Federal Government established the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (HCS),
also known as the “right to know” law. This standard is based on a simple concept: that employees have both a need and a right to know the hazards and the identities of the chemicals they are exposed to when working. This course is designed to assist both employers and employees in learning about work hazards and how to protect themselves.
Hazard communication is based on a simple concept – that employees have both a need and a right to know the hazards and identities of the chemicals they are exposed to while working. It is designed to provide employees with the information they need to work safely.
This course teaches basic OSHA requirements for proper labeling of hazardous chemicals in any workplace. Topics include the OSHA standard, hazardous chemicals, material safety data sheets, labels and labeling, information, and training.
