Safety Courses Offered by Essential Safety Products

First Aid and CPR Course: American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid CPR Course (with AED). This course is designed to comply with all OSHA requirements found in 29 CFR 1910, Subpart K and 29 CFR 1926, Subpart D for first aid training for employees. Basic first aid and emergency medical responder topics are covered. This course is also designed to allow the employer to comply with all OSHA requirements found in 29 CFR 1910, Subpart K and 29 CFR 1926, Subpart D for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training for employees. This course also contains training on automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for employers and locations that may have them. 7 hours in length and course includes textbook. $75 per person.

Fall Protection Authorized Person Course: This course is taught to qualify employees to perform basic fall protection tasks, particularly use of personal fall arrest systems (PFASs) in accordance with OSHA requirements found in 29 CFR 1926, Subpart M. Upon completion, the employee will be able to understand how to use PFASs safely to perform their jobs. 4 hours in length and course notebook is included. $85 per person.

Fall Protection Competent Person Course: This course is taught for employer-designated competent persons to be able to identify specific deficiencies in fall protection devices. This course meets the OSHA requirements of 29 CFR 1926, Subpart M. This course is taught for either DBI/Sala or Miller fall protection products. 8 hours in length and course notebook is included. $150 per person.

DOT HAZMAT Training for Shippers: This course is designed to train shipping personnel using typical freight and shipping services (UPS, FedEx, Yellow Freight, etc.) to comply with US DOT requirements under 49 CFR Chapter 1, Subchapter C or the "HMR." Course topics include the Hazardous Materials Regulation (HMR), HAZMAT terminology, hazard classification, performance-oriented, bulk and non-bulk packaging, labeling, marking, placarding, shipping papers, loading, storage and handling of HAZMAT, emergency response requirements and modal-specific requirements. 8 hours in length and course materials are provided. $150 per person.

HAZCOM Training: This course is designed to comply with OSHA training requirements for hazard communications (HAZCOM) found in 29 CFR 1910.1200 and 29 CFR 1926.59. Topics include basic toxicology and chemistry, identification of chemical hazards, basic labeling and placarding, routes of entry for toxic substances and MSDS use. 3 hours in length and course notebook is included. $65 per person.

HAZCOM/HAZWOPER Awareness Level Training: This course is designed to comply with OSHA training requirements for hazard communications (HAZCOM) found in 29 CFR 1910.1200 and 29 CFR 1926.59. This course also trains employees to the Awareness Level for HAZWOPER under 29 CFR 1910.120 and 29 CFR 1926.65 when the full 40-hour course is not necessary. 8 hours in length and course notebook is included. $150 per person.

HAZCOM/HAZWOPER Annual Recertification Training: This course includes all topics covered in the "Awareness" level training, but expands on topic areas to include first response procedures for the immediate control and mitigation of hazardous materials. This course is designed to comply with OSHA training requirements for hazard communications (HAZCOM) found in 29 CFR 1910.1200 and 29 CFR 1926.59 and recertifies employees both to the Technician Level for HAZWOPER under 29 CFR 1910.120 and 29 CFR 1926.65 and the full 40-hour course. 8 hours in length and course notebook is included. $150 per person.

HAZWOPER 24 Hour Level III Technician Course: This course is designed to train employees to the Technician Level for HAZWOPER under 29 CFR 1910.120 and 29 CFR 1926.65 when the full 40-hour course is not necessary. Topics include gas detection and monitoring, SCBA and full-face respirator use, fully encapsulated suit use, decontamination techniques and area management. 3 days in length and course textbook/notebooks included. $450 per person.

HAZWOPER 40 Hour Course: This course is designed to train employees to the 40 Level for HAZWOPER under 29 CFR 1910.120 and 29 CFR 1926.65. Course content includes all topics covered in the Level III Technician Course plus 8 hours of incident command and an additional 8 hours of site management topics for both industrial and hazardous waste sites. 5 days in length and course textbook/notebooks included. $575 per person.

Permit Required Confined Space Entry Authorized Person Course: This course is taught as an overview to qualify employees that are authorized to make entry into permit required confined spaces in accordance with OSHA requirements found in 29 CFR 1910.147. Air sampling, confined space permitting, non-entry rescue and administrative requirements under the standard are taught. Students will gain significant hands-on experience in this course. 8 hours in length and course notebook is included. $150 per person.

Industrial Truck (Forklift) Operator’s Certification Course: This course is taught using the National Safety Council’s Industrial Truck Operator’s curriculum. Upon completion of this course, which satisfies OSHA’s requirements under 29 CFR 1910.176-178, the student will be able to perform basic tasks pertaining to forklift operations. Further evaluation at the employee’s worksite is required to satisfactorily fulfill OSHA requirements for job and location-specific hazards and driving conditions. Driving tasks and hands-on training are provided. NSC cards for course completion are provided. 6 hours in length and textbook is provided. $150 per person.

Lockout/Tagout Authorized Person Training: This course is designed to provide employees with basic skills necessary to comply with the OSHA Lockout/Tagout (Control of Hazardous Energy) standards found in both 29 CFR 1910.147 and 29 CFR 1926. This course covers different types of energy isolation devices and techniques, essential elements of a lockout/tagout procedure and program requirements. 4 hours in length and course notebook is provided. $85 per person.

Respirator and Respiratory Personal Protective Equipment Use Training: This course is designed to provide employers with compliance with the OSHA respiratory protection standard found in 29 CFR 1910.134. Topics covered are qualitative and quantitative fit testing, care, maintenance, donning and doffing of respirators, respiratory protection selection criteria, atmospheric hazard analysis, medical evaluation criteria and respiratory program requirements. Full-face cartridge respirators and self-contained breathing apparatus are covered in this course. Each participant must bring their own full-face respirator, which they will use with HEPA cartridges. 4 hours in length and course notebook is provided. $85 per person.

Portable Fire Extinguisher Use Training: This course is designed to provide employees with the skills required to use portable fire extinguishers on fires that have not gone beyond the incipient stage. Topics include basic fire science, description of types of portable fire extinguishers, test and inspection criteria selection and distribution of extinguishers and actual "hands-on" use of fire extinguishers. Instruction is provided in accordance with NFPA 10 and complies with OSHA requirements under 29 CFR 1910.157 and 29 CFR 1926.150. 2 hours in length and course materials are provided. $45 per person.

Lockout/Tagout: The primary audience for the course is authorized employees who perform lockout/tagout operations. The course also serves as an overview of safety procedures for affected and other employees. This course is designed to ensure that employees can safely and effectively isolate potentially hazardous energy sources through an overview of 29 CFR 1910.147. Five hours in length and course notebook is included. $85 per person.

10 Hour Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry: This course designed for private sector personnel presents detailed information on how the provisions of the OSH Act may be implemented in the workplace. Rights and responsibilities under the OSH Act, the appeals process, and recordkeeping are covered. The course also includes an introduction to OSHA's general industry standards and an overview of the requirements of the more frequently referenced standards such as Introduction to OSHA, OSHA and Your Company, The OSH Act, General Duty Clause 5 (a) (1), Inspections, Citations and Penalties CFR Part 1903, Subpart D: Walking and Working Surfaces, Subpart E: Means of Egress and Evacuation Plans, Subpart L: Fire Protection-Emergency Action Fire Teams, Subpart Z: 1910.1200, Hazard Communication, Subpart O: Machine Guarding, Material Handling and Storage, Subpart H: Hazardous Materials, Asbestos & Lead, Manual Material Handling,
Hazard Recognition, Accident Prevention, Powered Industrial Trucks, Forklifts, Powered Platforms and Overhead Cranes. The 10 hour US Department of Labor OSHA card is issued upon successful completion. Ten contact hours (not counting breaks) over two consecutive days. $225 per person.

10 Hour Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry: This 10 hour course is developed by utilizing one-hour modules from the following topics, or other relevant course topics, to meet your specific needs:
Introduction to OSHA, OSH Act/General Duty Clause 5(a)(1), and Subpart C: General Safety and Health Provisions, Competent Person, Subpart K: Electrical, Subpart M: Fall Protection, Subpart H: Material Handling, Storage Use and Disposal, Subpart I: Tools, Hand and Power, Subpart L: Scaffolding, Subpart X: Stairways and Ladders, Subpart P: Excavations, Lead and Asbestos Hazards in Construction and Subpart Z: Toxic and Hazardous Substances. The 10 hour US Department of Labor OSHA card is issued upon successful completion. Ten contact hours (not counting breaks) over two consecutive days. $225 per person.

Excavation, Trenching and Soil Mechanics: This course focuses on OSHA standards and on the safety aspects of excavation and trenching. Students are introduced to practical soil mechanics and its relationship to the stability of shored and unshored slopes and walls of excavations. Various types of shoring (wood timbers and hydraulic) are covered. Testing methods are demonstrated. Personal Protective Equipment: In this 4-hour Personal Protective Equipment course you will learn what OSHA requires. This includes training on what PPE is necessary, when it is necessary, how to properly don, doff, adjust, and wear PPE, the limitations of PPE, and the proper care, maintenance, useful life, and disposal of PPE according to 29 CFR 1910.132. This course is for all employees exposed to hazards to the head, eyes, hands and feet and managers of those employees. Four hours in length and course notebook is included. $85 per person.

Hazardous Materials: This 8 hour course covers OSHA general industry standards and integrates materials from other consensus and proprietary standards that relate to hazardous materials. Included are flammable and combustible liquids, compressed gases, LP-gas, cryogenic liquids, and anhydrous ammonia. Related processes such as welding, spraying, and dipping are covered, as well as electrical equipment and ventilation. This course is designed for all employees exposed to hazards resulting from flammable and combustible liquids or other hazardous materials and managers of those employees. Eight hours in length and course notebook is included. $150 per person.

Biohazards and Bloodborne Pathogens: This 4 hour course assists health and safety professionals with the recognition, evaluation, and control of biological hazards during occupational exposure. Focus is placed on work practices, personal protective equipment, control techniques, recognized pathogens, and current applicable OSHA standards. Course includes discussions of the bloodborne pathogens standard, TB, compliance policy, and inspection techniques. Four hours in length and course notebook is included. $85 per person.

Weapons of Mass Destruction Risk Assessment for Water Distribution and Wastewater Systems: This 8 hour course is designed to familiarize public works professionals with risk assessment techniques common to examining vulnerability of wastewater treatment and water distribution facilities to the emerging threat of terrorism using weapons of mass destruction (WMDs). This system examines chlorine as a potential weapon and examines the introduction of radionuclides, pathogenic organisms or toxins into water distribution systems for the purpose of harming the public’s health. Eight hours in length and course notebook is included. $150 per person.

Industrial Electrical Safety: This 8 hour course is designed as an overview of OSHA and National Electric Code requirements for industrial electrical systems, installations and equipment from a safety perspective. Topics covered include hazardous location of equipment, ground fault circuit interrupters, single- and three-phase systems and electrical hazard recognition. 29 CFR 1910, Subpart S, NFPA 70 and NFPA 72 are reviewed. This course is designed for employees who work around or with industrial electrical systems and their management. Eight hours in length and course notebook is included. $150 per person.

Process Safety Management and Risk Management Programs for Ammonia and Chlorine Systems: This 8 hour course is designed as an overview of the OSHA Process Safety Management and EPA Risk Management Program Standards as they apply to systems that involve chlorine and ammonia. All 14 elements of PSM and 15 elements of RMP are reviewed as they apply to these two chemicals and commonly-found systems that use them. Current interpretations of 29 CFR 1910.119 and 40 CFR 68 standards and industry "best practices" are reviewed and discussed. Eight hours in length and course notebook is included. $150 per person.
