SCBA Services at Essential Safety Services |
Essential Safety Services is a Scott authorized sales and service center with factory-trained and authorized technicians with years of fire and industrial experience. We strictly follow all Scott maintenance and service procedures, using only factory parts and components. Essential Safety Services can also flow/function test all types of SCBA and Air Line Respirators. NFPA1852 requires that SCBA be flow/function tested annually using the Posichek3 SCBA tester, the only approved SCBA flow test device for NFPA-mandated annual flow testing. Essential Safety Services uses the Biosystems Posichek 3 for all Scott flow tests. The Posicheck 3 evaluates the operational fitness of your SCBA through dynamic tests and functional checks against performance criteria set down by NIOSH and the NFPA. Essential Safety Services believes that periodic testing is crucially important. Flow-testing determines the operational fitness of an SCBA by means of a series of dynamic tests and functional checks. Flow-testing quantitatively determines whether the current performance of an SCBA meets NIOSH and NFPA requirements. NFPA requires that breathing air be tested quarterly. Essential Safety Services is able to provide breathing air testing by sending your air sample to the same accredited laboratory that we use for testing. |

Respirator Fit-Testing Services at Essential Safety Services |
Essential Safety Services offers both quantitative and qualitative fit-testing of all respirators to meet your needs, both at our location and yours. Qualitative fit test methods are not approved for use with full face masks used for firefighting and the least desirable way to perform fit testing. Challenge agents are messy and unpleasant to the test administrators and subjects. Essential Safety Services uses the computerized OHD Fit Tester 3000, eliminating the need for irritant smoke, banana oil, or other challenge agents to spray, breathe, mix, fill, or spill. There are no human factors that could influence a test. Instead, the respirator fit tester replaces these outdated, qualitative methods with the convenience of controlled negative pressure. OHD Fit Tester 3000 has even improved on quantitative methods. Unlike other quantitative particle counting devices that use an inconvenient alcohol cartridge that has to be removed and refilled when the alcohol level runs low, the OHD uses a pressure differential to truly assess mask/face leakage. Additionally, the OHD Fit Tester 3000 is the only quantitative fit-resting device that can check its calibration in the field. Let Essential Safety Services conduct your fit tests for respiratory standard compliance. |

Air-Pak® SCBA Upgrade Kits | ||||||||||
PDF Manual for Air-Pak® SCBA |
Essential Safety Services recommends the Scott Air-Pak SCBA Upgrade Kit, designed to bring fire departments using legacy model Scott Air-Pak SCBA’s in line with the current NFPA 1981, 2007 Standard for Self Contained Breathing Apparatus. For use with any 1997 or 2002 compliant Air-Pak SCBA, the kit is the most economical and efficient way for a fire department or HAZMAT team to upgrade their entire SCBA inventory to the new standard without the added expense of purchasing completely new self-contained breathing apparatus. Simple electronics updates and/or the addition of new components is all that is required to upgrade an older model Air-Pak to the 2007 standard. As part of the upgrade, departments can choose to add the Pak-Alert® PASS device or the Pak- Tracker™ Firefighter Locator as an option, although not required by NFPA standards. Upgrade kits can be installed by Essential Safety Services, which is a Scott Authorized Service Center. |
