Introductory presentation to management and/or supervision. ESP/OfficeSafe® can deliver presentations to management that would be an overview of good ergonomic practices and any applicable ergonomic guidelines. This presentation includes the following critical elements of effective ergonomic programs and a brief description of managements responsibilities in each of the key elements:

Management Leadership/Employee Participation: A brief outline on how management leadership is defined under the new guidelines and how OSHA views meaningful employee participation.

• Training: Overview of the three basic levels of training that are required under the guidelines (manager, supervisor and employee).

• Program Evaluation: Discussion on how to implement an audit and evaluation program, how to conduct an evaluation and elements of an ergonomic program evaluation.

• Musculoskeletal Disorder (MSD) Management: Discussion on how to use existing OSHA 200 reporting, workers’ compensation, health care benefits and wellness programs to satisfy this requirement without creating burdensome programs.
• MSD Reduction Strategies: Facilitated discussion on how to develop a simple, but effective MSD reduction strategy that is the "applied" aspect of Client’s ergonomics program
• "Quick Fix" Requirements: Discussion on what "Quick Fix" means, when it can be used and when it should not be used.
• Recordkeeping Requirements: Outline on what types of records must be kept under the new guidelines.
ESP/OfficeSafe® presents this introductory overview to management (which also satisfies the requirement for management/supervisor training) for up to 20 managers in attendance at a session. All materials will be provided to attendees, including copies of the overhead presentations. Your EHS will be provided electronic copy in MS Word and Power Point of all presentation materials for their subsequent training uses. Training would be provided within four classroom hours and two hours of "hands-on" in the employees’ office environment. The purpose of this training is to train selected employees to perform basic ergonomic assessments and recommend corrective actions consistent with existing processes and procedures. Some of the subject areas that are covered include:

• Definition of ergonomics;
• Basic ergonomic risk factors;
• Furniture systems and office
   accessories (office only);
• Industrial equipment and control
   layout (industrial only);
• Seating, chair controls and
   functions;
• Analysis of job functions;
• Performing an assessment;
• Documenting the assessment;
• Recommending corrective actions;
• How not to raise employee
   expectations    unreasonably; and
• When to hand off an assessment to a
   professional.

ESP/OfficeSafe® provides this ergonomic assessor training to Client for $150 per hour for 6 and one-half hours contact plus one and one-half hours travel based on a minimum of 5 employees, maximum of 6 to be trained. In addition to the training, each employee is provided with a student kit with all materials presented included, applications manual and references for accessories selection. ESP also provides an electronic copy in MS Word and Power Point of the training material to Client EHS for their use in subsequent refresher training.

ESP/OfficeSafe® can provide training and information, consistent with Client’s ergonomic program and the federal guidelines, on MSD prevention, recognition of MSD signs and symptoms and how to report symptoms to Client’s management in accordance with their program requirements. Training handouts in an MS Word format, scripted MS Power Point presentations and other resources are available. Basic handouts will be provided as part of section 2, ergonomic assessor training. Preparation of custom materials is available at a rate of $150/hour, including development of artwork. Materials would be prepared in accordance with both the federal ergonomic guidelines and practices and Client’s’ corporate policies and procedures.

ESP/OfficeSafe® can provide engineering review for Clients capital projects for the purpose of evaluating ergonomic sufficiency of control layout, work/reach envelops, accessibility of critical components to a wide range of anthropometrically diverse employees, design for economy of motion for operators/maintainers and review for human/machine interface. This engineering review satisfies requirements for engineering controls under the OSH Act’s General Duty Clause and additionally satisfy human factor analysis requirements under 29 CFR 1910.119 (e)(3)(vi), Process Safety Management, Process Hazard Analysis if industrial. ESP provides engineering review under the above criteria for a proposed rate of $150/hour based on the assumption of three to four hours per $100,000 project cost prorated. For larger projects, engineering review time is calculated based on three hours per $100,000 increments of project cost.
